SUMMER IS HERE

Summer is here.  Dust off your shorts and tank tops and enjoy life.  Now, make sure those tops and shorts are age appropriate.

There are many activities that you can enjoy with your mate, your family and your friends that are low cost or no cost to you.

Summer is the time for concerts in the park, by the river or on a hill.   Many of the concerts given are free, but many with big headliners can cost an arm and a leg to attend.   If these costly concerts are going on in the park, you can sit away from the action and still enjoy the music for free.    There are car shows, fashion shows, various classes at community centers, community pools (many charge a small fee for a full day of fun) and discount movie tickets available for you to enjoy.

If you are able to afford gas, you can put the family in the car and take a nice ride, away from your everyday scenery.   Many museums offer summer discounts, take the time to explore other things.

If you just don't have the money to make a move (believe me, I know), take a walk around your neighborhood.  Get together with other mothers and plan small neighborhood activities and get the neighbors involved.   Kids get bored easily, so keep craft materials around, such as, popsicle sticks, leftover beans, macaroni or ribbon.  Elmers glue is still around and is cheap.

Many neighborhood religious facilities open their doors to the community for various activities during the summer.  If your church does not offer any summer activity, please go to the pastor and ask that the church help with some kind of activity for the neighborhood children.

Summer is a time for renewal.  So take off that winter/spring layer and open up the new YOU.

Enjoy your summer and be blessed always!

Continue to Weather The Storm, Don't Give Up

Ladies, I know that many of you have weathered the storm of depression, anxiety, loneliness, hopelessness and dispair.   I commend you for staying in prayer, standing firm on the word of God, believing in your faith that things will get better and continuing to walk with a bold authority.

I have heard from many women that's having a hard time in these trying days of budget cuts, job losses, trying to feed their family, trying to keep unity in the family or just trying to keep a roof over their heads.  It can become overwhelming to you, extremely depressings and give you a feeling of hopelessness.

To those that are still weathering the storm, know that it will pass and things will get better for you and your family.   Continue to read the word of God, continue to pray, continue to believe that things will get better for you.   We  must learn that some things are beyond our control, and as much as we try to control or just grasp at what is happening, sometimes you must stand back and allow God to work in your life.   You must believe that he will turn it around in your favor.

I have not blogged in a few days because I have been bombarded with such negative people that I wondered if I was actually helping others overcome adversity, hardship, etc., with words of wisdom, courage, knowledge, blessing and growth.    The calls I have received from around the globe, asking if I will continue to blog to empower women to move forward has been eye opening.   I now know that my blog has reached women in need of encouragement across the world.   This is eye opening and extremely humbling because when I started this blog, I had no idea the magnitude of women that would be touched by my words.

I want to thank you all for your support and I will continue to blog and encourage women to look at the bright side of things.  Women Empowering Women is very grateful for your love and support and if we can help one woman see her full potential then our job here is not in vain.

Be Blessed Always and Thank You!

Full Circle

With budget cuts still looming, I feel that we are being forced back to basics.  It seems that with the high prices of everything, and cuts in programs that help the needy and assist those who have barely made it out of the poverty hole we have got to get back to basics.

Yes, technology is great.  We have everything from DSL to XYZ.  With the rising cost of electricity, cable, and anything else associated with electronics or electricity, only the priviledged will be able to enjoy those luxuries.

I know how much we have become accustomed to eating whatever and whenever we want, but it seems that with the price of food continuously rising, local social food programs struggling to feed the rising number of families in need, and our local government refusing to acknowledge the needs of the poor, we may need to get back to the basics of growing our own food.

Finding a job is not as easy as it use to be.  Many employers are not hiring, period.  Many companies have move overseas, to avoid paying taxes here.   I speak alot about tapping into your talents to make money.  To survive, a lot of us are going to have to think of other ways to make money.

As we sit and wait for the hammer to drop.  Now is the time to think about getting back to the basics to survive.

Be Blessed

See A Doctor

Ladies, I want to talk to you about a serious issue, our health.   We spend a lot of time making sure everyone and everything around us is running smoothly, we seem to forget about making sure we are running just as smooth.

Make sure you go for regular checkups.  If you blessed to have insurance, make an appointment to see your primary care physician.  Have him/her give you the once over just to make sure everything is everything.   If you do not have insurance, seek state help.  Most states have a general assistance medical program (please do this before the cuts come down).  Most communities have mobile physician stations that will see the uninsured.  Fill out the paperwork and make an appointment to see a physician.

Ladies, our bodies are our temple.  Take the time to make sure you are fit.  As we get older, we must change our eating habits.  Our bodies are not designed to continiously ingest and digest processed foods.  With the price of food today, many of us are forced to change what we are accustomed to.   Get back to eating more veggies and natural foods.

As we heal our inner spirit, grow mentally and enhance physically, lets start taking care of our health.

See a doctor!

Be Blessed Always

Take The Time

Take the time to enjoy life.  Take a class and learn something new. Go to the park, sit at that coffee shop downtown, go window shopping.   We all get into our daily routine, and sometimes it is hard to step outside of that routine.   There are many things happening in your community that you may not be aware of.  Go online, pick up the community section of the newspaper and see what is offered.

Many classes or adventures offered are free, some are asking for a donation or charging a small fee.   A lot of sites or activities around the city offer a discount on group rates, so call some friends and see if they are interested.

Ladies, never stop enjoying life.  Regardless of what is going on around you, time nor life will stop because you are going through a rough season.  Take the time to step away from the situation, the clutter, the trials and tribulations, the burdens and the stress, and do something that will help you get your happy back.

Whatever it is, a dance class, a walk in the park, spending the day under a tree reading a book or a cooking class, take the time to enjoy life.

Be Blessed Always

The Power of Positive Thinking

Believe in yourself! Have faith in your abilities! Without a humble but reasonable confidence in your own powers you cannot be successful or happy.
Norman Vincent Peale, author

Ladies, having confidence in yourself is very important for your growth and well being.  There are many that have been beaten down spiritually by being surrounded by people, places and things that are not healthy.  Even as you attempt to ignore the negative, after awhile it starts will start to weigh you down.

Learning to believe in yourself is a process that can be achieved.  Learning to have faith in your abilities with daily reading of the word, meditation and affirmations, you will start to walk boldly.  The last sentence above sums everything up, "Without a HUMBLE, but REASONABLE confidence in YOUR OWN powers, you CANNOT be successful or happy".     As you begin to grow spiritually and mentally, continue to stay humble.  As your confidence grows, people around you will take notice.

Being happy or successful should not be measured by material things or by how much you have in the bank.  Being happy and successful within is worth more than ANYTHING money can buy.

The Power of Positive Thinking can help you overcome anything put in your path.  To change our lives, ladies, we must first change our thinking.

Don't Just Sit There, Do Something

As we all go about our daily lives, looming in the shadow are the budget cuts, both federal and state, that will affect all of us.  As we watch the people we put in office handle sex scandals, monetary impropriaties, jockeying for presidental position at any cost, we the little people are left , praying, fasting, biting our fingernails, wondering and hoping they will remember us.

Don't just sit there, do something!  Write your representative, call them, send them an email, let them know that you want the budget cuts to not affect the poor, the elderly, children, those who need medical insurance, etc.    I remember a time when we wanted the attention of our representative, we marched, we picketed, we boycotted, we bombarded their offices until they realized that WE THE PEOPLE, put you there, and WE THE PEOPLE will remove you if the choices you are making are not beneficial to those who need it the most.

Everyday that WE THE PEOPLE don't act or say anything, is another day that our legislators make decisions that will drastically affect those who are barely making ends meet now.

WEW has contacted every representative in our area.  You can go to www.whitehouse.gov and there is a link to put in your area code and they will give you a list of your representative with address and phone numbers.  You can also go to your state government home page and you can get a listing of your local representatives.

Please call, write, text, email or if you are in the area, pay them a visit.   Remember, THEY WORK FOR YOU, not the other way around, and as with any worker that is not getting the job done, they should be dismissed.

Don't just sit there, PLEASE DO SOMETHING!

Be Blessed!

To Move Forward, You Must Forgive And Let It Go

In our quest to be better and move forward, we must learn how to forgive and let it go.  There are things that has happened in all of our past and present that we are burdened to hold on to.  Today is the day that to move forward, you must forgive and let it go.  You cannot change what has happened in the past.  The only thing you can do is address it, see if for what is was, forgive and let it go.

A lot of health issues are related to the stress of holding onto something mentally that has happened in the past.  Know that God knows all and sees all, and that if you learn to lean on him, meditate on his word, forgive and let it go, you will feel the burden of whatever has happened lift off of you.

Do not allow anyone or anything to steal your joy.  The fact that you woke up this morning should be proof enough that God is in control.

Forgiving and letting go does NOT mean that you will forget what has happened.  Forgiving and letting go does NOT mean that you are defeated.  Forgiving and letting go does NOT mean that you are weak.

Forgiving and letting go means that you are taking back your life and your well being.  Forgiving and letting go means that you will not allow anyone to control your goal of striving everyday to be better mentally and physically for yourself, your family and your community.

Today is the day we move forward!  Today is the day that we forgive, let go and live our life.

Be Blessed Always.

Speak Positive Over Your Circumstance

Being positive is a beautiful thing.  Conditioning yourself to speak positive over your circumstances is a process that will seem strange if you are constantly surrounded by negative. .

We all have trials and tribulations that we must go through, some more severe than others, but I believe that everything happens for a reason, and that there is something in every situation you must learn or grow from.  There are times when you have to step back mentally from the situation and find the positive, and if after stepping back to examine the situation you cannot find any positive, SPEAK POSITIVE over your circumstance.

Ladies, speak positive over your children also.  Stop talking negative to and about your child.   I can not tell you how many times I see parents screaming at their children, or telling them how "bad" they are.  Also, stop cussing out your children.  Yes, I said it, STOP CUSSING OUT YOUR CHILDREN!  If you are not sure how to speak to a child, ASK FOR HELP.    Teach your children to speak positive to each other.  Teach your child to speak positive to you, the parent.

Speak positive over your relationship.  Condition yourself to be positive.  All relationships go through good seasons and rocky seasons.  No couple is happy 24/7.  You can still remain positive even through the rocky season.  You can still speak positive to your mate, even through the rocky season.

Speak positive over your circumstance, whether it is financial, health, family dysfunction, etc.  If you put positive out in the universe, I believe you will draw positive back.

Ladies, encourage each other to be/speak positive.   If you see another woman being negative, you continue to exude positive.   If you hear another woman being negative, you continue to speak positive.  Positive will always draw positive, so either she will change her negative ways or her negative speech, or she will move away from you quickly.  Remember misery LOVES company and negative ONLY DRAWS negative.   Accept and receive only positive.

Speak positive over all your circumstance everyday and you will see the change in yourself, your family and your surrounding.

Be Blessed Always.

Real Friends Are A Blessing

Know who your real friends are.  A friend is someone who is very honest with you when it is necessary.  A friend is someone who will be there when you call.  A friend will offer a kind word when needed.  A friend will point out things that you may need to work on.  Real friends are a blessing.

Many must realize that to have a friend you must know how to be a friend.   Being a friend means that you must be compassionate, humble, stern, sympathetic, a brother, a sister, sometimes a mother or a father.  Being a friend means that you have no hidden agenda.  Being a friend means that you don't have to play games or attempt to manipulate.

Real friends are a true blessing.  If you are unsure if someone is a true friend, listen to what your spirit is saying to you.   Do you have to watch what you say around that person?  Are you unable to express how you feel?  Can you really be honest with that person, or is it just about stroking their ego?

Be honest with yourself about who your real friends are.  Real friends are a blessing, cherish them!

Blessings Always

Walk By Faith, Not By Sight

Ladies, for those of you going through a rough patch, please know that it will get better.  If you have the faith of a grain of mustard seed, you are protected.  Know that God knows sees all and knows all, and he doesn't take lunch breaks.

Walking by faith is a conditioning of the spirit and the mind.  You must know that everything will work out for your good.  Regardless of what is going on, continue to stay in prayer and walk by faith.

Walking by faith means that the power within you, is much greater than what is going on around you.  Know that everything that happens, happens for a reason.  We may not understand the reason why while we are in the mist of that battle, but please believe, you will understand in the long run.

Continue to be unreceptive to negative people, places and things.   Continue to walk with a boldness that will make your problems seek shelter elsewhere.  Continue to surround yourself with positive.  Continue to feed your spirit by reading God's word and knowing that his word does not come back void.

Walk by the faith that carried those before us.  Walk by the faith from those that died for us.  Walk by the faith that has carried you this far, and do not fall prey to what is going on around you.

Continue to Be Blessed Always.
